   1. What are your sensory bases made from?

       Our sensory bases are crafted from carefully selected, food-grade, eco-friendly, and non-toxic materials to ensure they are safe and enjoyable for children’s play. We use natural ingredients like rice, pasta, dried legumes, and other gentle sensory-friendly items that encourage exploration while being safe for little hands and curious mouths.

   2. Are your products safe for kids?

Absolutely! Our products are made with food-grade, eco-friendly materials that are non-toxic and carefully chosen with little ones in mind. We prioritise safety by ensuring all ingredients are gentle for play and created to give parents peace of mind. If any item in a pack is not food-grade, it will be clearly labelled so you know exactly what you’re getting. Transparency and safety are always our top priorities.

   3. How long will my sensory base last?

Our sensory bases are made from natural ingredients like rice, pasta, legumes, and other dried goods. When stored properly—in a cool, dry place inside an airtight container or resealable bag—they can last for several months. Over time, pasta pieces may crack or break; usually, this doesn’t affect play, but if any pieces feel sharp or could cause harm, it’s best to discard and replace the base to keep play safe and fun. Always check for changes in smell, texture, or colour, and replace if needed.

   4. How should I store the sensory materials?

To keep your sensory materials fresh and safe for continued play, store them in an airtight container or resealable bag in a cool, dry place—away from moisture and direct sunlight. Proper storage helps extend the life of your materials and keeps them in great condition for little hands to enjoy. Always ensure the materials are completely dry before storing to prevent mould or spoilage.

   5. Are your products safe for babies or toddlers under 3?

No. Our products are not designed for children under 3 years old. While the sensory rice base is made from food-grade, non-toxic materials, it is NOT MEANT FOR EATING and may still pose a risk for younger children. Small parts or broken pieces (like pasta) can be a choking hazard.

If you choose to let younger children explore, this must only be done with close adult supervision. Please use your own judgment based on your child’s developmental stage. If in doubt, remove or replace any item that could cause harm. We cannot accept responsibility for any incidents that may occur if our products are used outside of the recommended age guidelines.

   6. What’s the difference between Single Sprinkle, Sensory Swirls, and Scoop & Discover?

🌈Single Sprinkle Sensory Base 
These are simple, beautifully dyed sensory bases made from one type of dried good only — like rice, chickpeas, or pasta — in a single solid colour. Perfect for colour sorting, scooping, pouring, and open-ended play with materials you already have at home.

✨ Sensory Swirls
Sensory Swirls are playful, multi-textured mixes that combine colours, dried goods, and a touch of shimmer or sparkle. Each blend is designed to feel extra enchanting and imaginative — great for themed trays or when you want a little wow factor.

🎨 Scoop & Discover
Theme Kits include a coordinated sensory base and matching loose parts inspired by a specific theme (like Ocean, Garden, or Construction). They’re perfect for storytelling, small world play, or ready-to-go sensory setups.

   7. Can I request custom colours or a special theme?

Absolutely! I welcome your ideas and love creating custom sensory blends to suit your child’s favourite colours, themes, or occasions. You're welcome to request specific colours for particular base materials too — like pink chickpeas or ocean-toned rice.

Please keep in mind that I also work part-time, so custom orders may take a little longer to prepare. If you have something special in mind, feel free to reach out and I’ll do my best to bring your vision to life! ✨

Alchemy Mix

1. What ingredients are in Stardust Alchemy Mix?

Our mix is made from child-friendly pantry-style ingredients including bicarbonate soda, citric acid, cornflour, cream of tartar, mica for colour, biodegradable glitter, and optional SLSA (a gentle bubbling agent).
All products are handmade in a home kitchen that handles common allergens, so cross-contamination may occur.

2. What is SLSA?

SLSA (Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate) is a gentle, plant-derived bubbling agent often used in bath bombs and bubble bars.
It helps create big, soft, foamy bubbles without irritating skin.

3. Is SLSA the same as SLS?

No — they are completely different.

• SLSA is mild, derived from coconut & palm oils, and made for bath/body use. ​SLSA creates a rich lather without being overly drying, therefore SLSA is a better choice for sensitive skin. Bonus points: It's biodegradable!!

• SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) is a strong detergent found in cleaning products and shampoos and can strip natural oils and cause irritation. SLS causes environmental issues primarily by being toxic to aquatic life, impacting water quality, and contributing to pollution from the production of its raw materials, such as palm oil.

Your mix does NOT contain SLS.

4. Is the Alchemy Mix safe for sensitive skin?

Our recipe is designed to be gentle, but as every child’s skin is unique, we recommend patch testing and avoiding use on broken or irritated skin.

5. What age is this suitable for?

Recommended for ages 3+.
Adult supervision is required at all times as this is a small-particle product.

6. What type of play works best?

Use warm water for maximum fizzing, and add a tiny drop of dish soap or bubble bath for extra foam.
Pipettes and syringes make the magic happen slowly and safely.

7. Does it stain?

We use cosmetic & food-grade mica, which is generally non-staining.
However, as with any coloured play material, we recommend playing on a washable surface and rinsing hands after play.

8. How do I store it?

Keep the tube upright, tightly closed, and out of humidity.
Store away from heat and moisture to maintain peak fizz.
